WEEKLY DISCIPLESHIP MEETING
Youth Room | Sundays | 7:15-8:15 PM (just one hour)
Kick-off is Sunday, Jan 31
We will explore what it means to have an adult faith, how to deal with the decisions life throws at us, and how Christ makes all the difference. All that I ask is you bring a Bible, a notebook, and your questions each week. Together, we will build our Upperclass discipleship groups.
This is all in-person and on-campus so please realize the risks. We will continue our sanitizing. However, as of right now, we cannot do a virtual option.
We explore a theme each week through the lens of the Gospel and ask:
"How does this affect my life here and now?"
WHAT IS DISCIPLESHIP?
“I Am the Way, the Truth, and the Life”
The name given by the earliest Christians was the followers of the Way. It is not just a system of beliefs but is first and foremost a way of life. It is in the doing that the believing is made real. To be a disciple is to choose Jesus as the measure of your whole life, that he alone gives meaning, validation, and affirmation.
Discipleship is a call to “deny yourself, take up your cross, and follow me.” It is a road marked with suffering, joy, and responsibility. It is a serious thing, and so you must be serious-minded when navigating this life for yourself.
The Upper Class is a chance for you to make a decision for yourself to no longer expect the burdens of life to be carried by other people for you. It is for us as a community to voluntarily take up the cross and bear it well together. In short, it is a weekly dive into the reality of becoming an adult.
